Meet the team

The Workforce Programme Team consists of:

Sharon Rowe- Workforce Transformation Lead

Sharon has previously worked as a Consultant Genetic Counsellor, leading and developing the Genetics Service at the Countess of Chester Hospital. She lectures on genomics and cancer genetics to healthcare practitioners in primary and secondary care.  Working with Chester University she participated in validation of several MSc programmes and continues to lecture on the MSc in Genetics and Foundations in Cancer Care Course at Clatterbridge Oncology Centre. Since 2015 she has developed and delivered a competency based education programme for level 4 Cancer Navigators/Support Workers and is working with PHE to develop apprenticeship standards for this role.

Lucy Irwin- Workforce Transformation Facilitator

Lucy worked as part of the Medical Workforce team at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre for six years previous to joining the Cancer Alliance. Junior doctor’s induction played a huge part in her role within the team, organising and ensuring that all learning needs were met before the doctors could safely start working on the wards. She took an interest in Medical Education, working with the Consultant Lead to create and run a rolling day education programme which covered Consultant and SAS Doctor’s mandatory training and development needs associated with any upcoming changes within Oncology. Lucy also worked with the University of Liverpool to ensure the year 4 medical students experienced a variety of Oncology experience during their placement.

Since joining the alliance Lucy has worked closely with the Workforce Transformation Lead to organise and ensure the smooth running of the Cancer Support Worker development programme and also Practise Nurse training.

She has also been an active member of the MDT Steering group, taking a lead on the MDT leadership masterclass that has taken place over the last few months.

The Programme is overseen by Melanie Zeiderman- Deputy Programme Director
